Many of you want to know: What Should I Do When I'm NOT Running?
Training for a marathon requires not only a running program, but also keen attention to strength and nutrition. Your body must have the appropriate amount of muscle tissue to prevent injury, and you must consume an amount of nutrients necessary to perform at peak capacity.
Monica Pampell's seminar will outline important concepts regarding strength and nutrition for runners, including:
- Injury prevention through strength and flexibility
- Targeting core muscles for optimal running form
- Strength for muscle groups you may not think of first (those neglected during runs)
- Proper pre- and post-workout nutrients
Master Trainer and Swim Instructor Monica Pampell was a Division I collegiate swimmer during her undergraduate career at George Washington University. As team captain, she led all team running workouts for cross-training. She developed her true passion for running following college, and has completed all distances of racing: 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon since 2004. Monica is employed with the Sports Club/LA in Washington, DC, working with clients to improve general fitness, triathlon training, swimming, and rehabilitation. She also completed a M.S. Exercise, Nutrition, and Eating Behavior at the George Washington University, allowing her full capability to prescribe fitness and nutritional counseling to her clientele.
